Replace CF Card

SIPR needs a CF Card in order to operate fully. Without one, the system will not be able to weigh trains. If the GUI indicates that the CF Card isn’t working, it needs to be replaced.

The AMTAB System is delivered by default with an ATP Industrial Grade CompactFlash Card 4GB. In theory any CF should work, but firmware won’t be able to allocate more than 4GB of space regardless of the capacity of the CF.

Preparing CF Card

Due to how the firmware is designed, CF Cards needs to be prepared in a specific way to work properly.

  1. Connect a CF Card Reader to a Windows PC.

  2. Connect the CF Card to the CF Card Reader.

  3. Open Disk Management diskmgmt.msc.

  4. Find the device which is the CF Card.

  5. Delete the existing volume.

  6. It should now show “Unallocated” space for the whole disk.

  7. Disconnect the CF Card from the reader.

Replacing CF Card

Safety Hazard

This operation requires physical access to the AMTAB System Cabinet and should only be carried out by personnel that have been trained by AMTAB. All warranty is void if unauthorized personnel handle the electronics in the System Cabinet without AMTAB’s direct supervision.

There is risk for electrical shock and that components of the AMTAB System will be damaged.

  1. Open the AMTAB System Cabinet.

  2. Turn off the AMTAB System power with the main breaker.

  3. Carefully remove the CF Card from the SIPR through the exposed CF Card slot on the E-Box.

  4. Connect the replacement CF Card into the SIPR, be careful to not damage any of the pins on the PCB.

  5. Turn on the AMTAB System power with the main breaker.

  6. Close the cabinet door.

  7. Login to the GUI.

  8. In the System Status view, the Information section should display the size of the CF card partition. If the preparation was unsuccessful, it will show a warning “CF Card Not Found” instead of a number like “4094.94 MB”.
