Data Storage¶
All measurement parameters are stored locally and offline on the CF Card which is connected to SIPR. This storage is limited but is able to store approximately 300,000 axle passages, depending on sample rate and timeout configured. Old data will be automatically removed to make space for new data. How old data is allowed to be removed is controlled by the Data Retention settings (GUI -> Site).
Data stored on the CF Card is protected by checksums and if it’s tampered with it will be detected by the GUI and the API. The algorithm and calibration settings used when measuring is also included in the checksum, meaning it’s possible to detect if a setting has been tampered with after a system has been certified. A warning will be displayed in the GUI if the settings checksums have changed since the settings were validated. Data stored on the CF Card can be browsed in the GUI CF Card Content view.
To store historical data, older than what the CF card can accommodate, a MySQL Database can be connected. Data will be automatically uploaded to the database when a connection is available. If the database or system is offline, data will be stored on the CF Card until it can be uploaded.
The MySQL Database is also useful for aggregating data from multiple AMTAB Systems. If the MySQL Database is used it’s also possible to use AMTAB’s WIDIA application which has a user-friendly interface for browsing measurements and generating reports.
Database documentation is provided separately and can be requested from AMTAB Support.
Data Integrity
Once data has been transferred outside the local storage, the integrity of the data is the end customer’s responsibility. If data is tampered with by personnel that has access to the database it will not be detected by tools provided by AMTAB.
Internet Connection Requirements¶
The table below lists the minimum requirements for the system to reliably upload data to a remote database. If the WireGuard protocol is used, the only outbound port required is the one of AMTAB’s WireGuard server, 51820. This is usually allowed on 4G Data SIM Cards, but may need to be explicitly allowed from internal networks. AMTAB Support is available to coordinate with your IT Department before installation.
If 4G is used an external antenna can be fitted to increase signal strength, if needed.

Database Requirements¶
The requirements for the MySQL Database is very low and can be hosted on virtually any computer. For reliability it’s recommended to use server-grade equipment, or a cloud based host.
AMTAB can provide a cloud-based database if there’s no specific need for a self-hosted one. Each customer’s data is separated in their own private database, and user accounts will be provided as desired.
